(TMMA) the secretary general, Mr. S Chakrabarty, said that in the past four years, we have urged the government of India to stop the threat posed by the import of second-hand machinery.

Finally, the government is considering importing second-hand textile machinery that has banned imports for more than 5 years.

He said that China has completely stopped importing second-hand machinery since 1995.

If China doesn't have second-hand machinery to survive, why can't India?

He revealed that in 2004-05, a study shows that a textile producing country can always be improved by importing new machinery.

By comparison, 80% of looms imported from India are second-hand machinery.

Therefore, the government is considering limiting the importation of second-hand machinery, which is a good step forward.

This will help domestic industry development.

Will increase domestic production capacity, will also create more employment opportunities, stop importing more value-added and unnecessary machine parts.
