Japan'S Clothing Retailer UNIQLO First Appeared In India Market
Japan's clothing retail brand UNIQLO debuted in the India market on Thursday and opened its first store in Ambience shopping center, Vasant Kunj, Delhi.
The store, which covers three floors and covers an area of more than 35000 square feet, will be open to the public on 4 October. The brand will also open two more stores in DLF Avenue, Saket and DLF CyberHub in Gurugram in the next few days.
Tadashi Yanai, founder and chairman and chief executive officer of fast retailing group, told reporters at a news conference: "marching on the India market is a step towards globalization. We are committed to improving the way of life in India. By creating more innovative clothing that draws on India's unique culture and traditions, we hope to contribute to India's economic development in the process.
He added: "twenty-first Century will be the century of India. In view of the huge potential of 1 billion 300 million of the population, the GDP growth rate of the country is 7%, with an average annual growth rate of 7%, so fast retailing has always wanted to open stores in India.
He said that at the end of last year, UNIQLO began recruiting in India, and was surprised to see his "extraordinary talent, ambition and diligence" of young people.
When asked about his expectations of India's business, he replied, "my curiosity about India is not confined to business. India is a diversified market with many languages, races and histories. Our focus will be on self education for India consumers.
Uniqlo was founded in Japan in 1984, and currently has 2200 stores in 23 other countries / regions, aiming to cooperate with India producers and strengthen its procurement base in India.
UNIQLO's first life suit in India consists of winter clothes for men and women. The series has global profile and is created by using different technologies (such as Heattech, AIRism, Ultra Light Down, Ultra Stretch Jeans, etc.).
The brand has also launched a special "Rina Singh" with the designer Rina Singh (Kurta Collection), which includes robes, dresses, trousers and shawls, including charcoal, indigo, mustard and red earth color combinations.
The shop's UT (Uniqlo T-shirt) corner includes personalized T-shirts, with various designs, all kinds of Uniqlo stamps and other popular culture.
